My Awesome Friends

I can’t believe that I forgot to post this! A few weeks back some friends took me out to dinner at Ted’s Montana grill to celebrate my graduation. We had a great time…it’s always an interesting time when this gang gets let out together! Here are a couple of pictures from the night. We all had a FANTASTIC dinner, and thanks guys for being such amazing friends.

~Dog Training~

My poor Jessy girl got up in the middle of the night and wanted to go outside. This is very unusual for her; she will stay asleep until I get up. So I knew something was up. Many years ago I taught Jessy to ‘tell’ me she had to go outside when she needed to throw up. I ABSOLUTELY hate vomit; it will make me sick all day if I have to clean it up and since I lived by myself…I had to find a way to avoid cleaning it up at all costs. So I taught her that she must vomit outside. I know…lovely topic, but my whole morning I was jumping in and out of bed to let her out to throw up. Poor girl was MISERABLE. But I was SO grateful that I didn’t have to clean any up, she such a good girl. So after about 5 hours of up and down, she is finally feeling better and ate some white rice. Phew, I am so glad that I have such a good puppy!

~Warm Summer Evenings~

We haven’t had a lot of these lately, but when we do have them I enjoy my walks with my family. It is a time for us to bond and just enjoy each others company. And I know that the pups truly appreciate it!

Also, I’d like to dedicate this posting to Elle’s New England kitchen…she has become a buddy of mine in the blogging world via Twitter, and she inspired this posting!

~SLOW DOWN~

Often times, I fly through life without realizing what just happened. This week, I am going to focus on slowing down, enjoying the little things that happen around me.

I found this posting on the Zen Habits website to be extremely helpful.

~Crazy Colorado Weather~

I have always loved living in this amazing state, we have the craziest weather! It can start off being freezing cold, hit 70 degrees by noon and be raining by 5:00 PM. You never know what you’re going to get. As of last month we have been having a lot of severe weather here in Colorado. And I tend to be a bit obsessed with tornadoes; I’m the dumb girl that goes running outside when I see the crazy clouds or hear the sirens. I know, I know…it’s not smart but the sky ends up being so beautiful. So one day, I braved the winds and headed out with my camera to take some pictures of these gorgeous clouds; which resulted in a pretty heavy rain storm later that day.

I hope you enjoy the pics…

Here comes the rain…and can you SEE how gorgeous my parent’s lawn is?!?!

I think clouds like this are just breathtaking…these pictures did not do them justice.

~The Big Backyard~
The Big Backyard

I know it’s been a while since I have posted one of my grateful postings. I’ve been so sick lately it’s been hard to move, let alone blog! But anyhoo, I am EXTREMELY grateful for the folks at The Big Backyard. Four years ago, we adopted a very troublesome German Short Haired pointer, and named him Tucker.

He has been hard work ever since. We knew NOTHING about raising a dominant dog so you can imagine how he walked all over us…he destroyed our house, broke out of every kennel we put him in, and hurt himself every chance that he got. After not knowing what to do, we were fortunate enough to find the best Doggy Daycare in Denver. Not only do they provide daycare for your pups, they have a training program too. They taught us how to be good pack leaders. Every morning, I gear Tucker up with his backpack and collars and send him off to daycare. This is truly the only way we have been able to keep this dog. A lot of daycare centers gave up on him…but not the Big Backyard. He has been a challenge through the years but they still continue work with us everyday to keep our pup safe and happy.

So thank you, to the owners and staff of the Big Backyard…you have been amazing. And for those of you that have dogs in Denver, I would 100% recommend this place; they are amazing!

You can take a peek at Tucker on their video for Treadmill training.

Mantra Monday

~Calm–Assertive~

My Mantra for this week is to remain Calm-Assertive. I have a lot going on this week that will only be successful if I remain Calm-Assertive. I learned about this state of being from Cesar Milan, the Dog Whisperer. Having Calm-Assertive energy enables you to be a true leader without coming off as bossy or overbearing. My leadership skills will be in check this week, and I hope that I will be able to maintain Calm-Assertive energy through out the week.

Make it a great week everyone.

Maxwell Falls Hiking

Hi, it’s been so long since I have updated…I have been really busy teaching Jazzercise and also getting a summer time cold. And seriously, how does that happen?!?! I’m starting to feel better, so I’ll hopefully be able to keep up with the blogging!

Many moons ago, I purchased a couple of hiking trail books and I have decided to commit to going on at least one hike a month. It’s good for me, and for the pups! So we broke out the 12 Short Hikes in the Denver Foothills-Central book and picked the Maxwell Falls Trail. This trail is about 3 miles long and there is an elevation change of 520 feet. This hike was beautiful! And we managed to time it perfectly; it was just starting to sprinkle as we were leaving.

Here are some pics of the hike…of course Jessy had a GREAT time!
