Mantra Monday: Bring It!

Mantra Monday

~ Bring It ~

My Mantra for the week comes from one of those cheesy high school movies…Ya, that’s right, I watched Bring It On; and I liked the movie. I secretly always wanted to be either a cheerleader or pom-pom dancer but I was WAY too shy in high school. OK, I’ve said way too much. LOL.

Back to my Mantra, for some reason…I tend to get ‘challenged’ a lot. Maybe it’s because I don’t say a whole lot, or that I tend to be confident…but people tend to brush off what I say or try and prove me wrong. So my Mantra for this week is Bring It! Life has been tough lately, and I can take whatever is thrown at me. I am in un-chartered waters in my life right now, so instead of rolling over and playing dead…I’m going to Bring it! Nothing will defeat me, I will rise above all. So take that! HMPH!!

And oh ya, here’s the trailer for the movie ‘Bring it On’ incase you don’t know what I’m talking about.

P.S. Eliza Dushku and Gabrielle Union are two of my favorites…so that is probably why I liked this movie so much. I know, I know…I’m a dork and I have fully disclosed that on the web. *sigh* But, HOW cool is the name Isis!

Grateful Posting: Facebook

~ Facebook ~

Facebook has been an amazing social networking tool for me! I have caught up with so many long lost friends and have made many new friends on Facebook. Since I went to college on the East coast I don’t get to see my NEC friends all that much, but Facebook has allowed me to keep in contact and keep up with everyone. I know that I probably have an addiction to it, but I am grateful for Facebook.

Mantra Monday: Thankful

Mantra Monday

~ Thankful / Grateful ~

Well, can you believe it? Thanksgiving is this week…holy schmoly time has flown by! So ya, I’ve still got thousands of things to do and not enough time to do it…I think that’s how my life is going to be for a while. So I’ll just hang on for the ride. ;) But for this week, my Mantra is going to be Thankful/Grateful for the things that I have…which means I will try and post at least one of my ‘Grateful Posting’ a day.

GratefulPosting

I really hope that I can do this! I have been lacking some positivity in my life so this should help. What are you thankful for? Post it on your blog!

Make it a great week.

Dog Park Fun

Yes, yes I know…I write about my dogs a lot, LOL. They are my fur-kids and they bring me happiness so I like to share in my happiness. Since the weather is getting a bit colder here in Colorado, I’ve had to take advantage of the warms days by going to the dog park. A few weekends back Jessy & Tucker’s buddy Furio called and asked if we wanted to go to the dog park. My kids refuse time to run around like idiots? NO WAY! So we all packed in the Jeep and headed off to the Quincy Dog Park. Honestly, Dallas & I were just there as a mode of transportation…LOL.

Jessy refused to leave Dallas’ side (she is in fact her favorite, Mom has SO been replaced), and Furio walked around a bit and enjoyed watching the other dogs.

Of course, Tucker got the most attention because of his crazy antics and because he is so handsome. All in all we had a great time. Tucker even made a friend…this little girl got a hold of a ‘Chuck it’ and Tucker ACTUALLY brought the ball back to her (HMPH! Not that I’m bitter about that at all).

A few weekends later my Dad packed the pups into his car and headed to the Cherry Creek State Park dog park. OH boy was that fun; I didn’t bring my camera and really wish I had. There was a lot of run off in the river from the snow the previous week; ALL of the pups enjoyed that. I even caught Tucker on video playing in the water, which he NEVER does.

Both adventures were a ton of fun! To see more pics from the Quincy Dog park, click on the picture below.

Spazzing Out and Blizzards

As many have heard we got hit with a blizzard last week, it was amazing! Well, my dogs LOVE the snow…so I took them out to play as much as I could. Times like these that I miss having an SUV, because I would’ve geared up and taken them to a park and let them run free. But owning a car…there was no way I was going to get out of my neighborhood. We got a total of 3 feet out here in Southeast Aurora (aka Kansas)! It was a gorgeous snow storm and I got a few pictures.

That leads us into Tucker’s ‘Spaz Moment of the Day

Spaz

…now this didn’t happen today (I know I’m slacking on the blogging) but I still had to share it. Let me paint you the picture…I have a very small backyard that has two levels. There is a retaining wall at the top of my backyard that is about 4 feet high. The pups ‘potty’ area is along the East side of my house, so they can run along the bottom level and get to the area. Well, Tucker gets uber excited (get it? cause he's a German Short Haired Pointer *giggle*) when it snows and he bounces all around like Tigger. So he’s bouncing from the lower level to the upper level, up down up down…and then it happens; he hits a spot that was a lot higher than he estimated and SMACK he hits the retaining wall and falls flat on his back in the 3 feet of snow. So all I see is four dog legs twitching in the air. I almost peed myself I was laughing so hard, of course I don’t go to help him I rushed to get my camera...I was too late, he had dug himself out and was happily playing with his sister in the lawn. *sigh*

Here are a few pics of the snow.

Jessy patiently waiting to come inside…

You can barely see the pups running around…

The snow drifts hanging off of my roof at the end of the storm…

Mantra Monday: Balance

Mantra Monday

~Balance~

WOW, who knew being un-employed was SO much work. I feel like I am running around like a chicken with its head cut off. There are about 1 MILLION items on my To-Do list that it is all so overwhelming. So, I have taken a step back and decided that I needed to separate out my To-Do lists; job search & house work. Yikes, I’ve got A LOT to do. So my Mantra for this week is balance. I need to learn how to balance looking for a job AND taking care of my household duties. And not to mention that my pups need me to be balanced as well. So here’s hoping!

Mantra Monday: 11/02/2009

Mantra Monday

~ Budget ~

The last couple of weeks have been pretty rough around the Tuffy household. I got let go from my job (where I worked for 10 years) and had to file for unemployment. I have never had to do something like this before, so uncharted territory again for me. Most people might see this as a hit to their ego and start freaking out about how they will handle bills. For some reason, I didn’t freak out and I felt confident that this happened so that I could take some time to get my life cleaned up a bit. Sometimes when you make a certain amount of money you tend to incur more debt or buy items that are not really necessary. I have to say loosing my job helped me to gain perspective of what I ‘need’ in my life. Life tends to get cluttered and distracting; I forgot how much more enjoyable life is if it is simple. So I have recreated my household budget and made it much simpler so that I can enjoy the simple things in life and stay positive.

Make it a great week…and I do have a couple ‘Spaz Moments of the Day’ that I will be posting shortly. Enjoy the day.
