Let me give you a little background first before I tell you about the incident. I recently took over the 9:00 AM
Jazzercise class at the
Denver Center. I took over this class from
an amazing instructor…so I have pretty big shoes to fill; of course, I’m nervous. When I am nervous, I tend to spaz out and knock things over. Another note, I have to move the fan to the front of the stage for two reasons: 1. It gives me a boundary for the end of the stage so I don’t fall off. 2. I sweat like a crazy woman when teaching and I overheat easily. That being said…here is what happened yesterday.
I started off my class without a hitch…my opener was flawless, I did everything perfectly. We started to move up the curve raising our heart rates and I thought, WHEW I’m getting toasty. I then realize that my fan is not on. Ut-oh, I need that fan! So I instruct the students to keep moving and I quickly walk over, grab the fan and put it on the front of the stage. Sounds simple, right? Um, not so much if you’re me. In the process of picking up the fan, I knock over the trash can and it falls off the stage then hitting an
exercise ball. The force of the hit from the trash can forces the
exercise ball to start rolling towards my students. *sigh* So now EVERYONE is laughing and wondering if the ball is going to come attack them; thankfully it’s a
Jazzercise ball that has the little feets on the bottom so it stops right before the front row of my class. I am so distracted at this point, I know that the moves are changing in the song and I need to show the class what the next move is, so I ignore the mess that I just made step away from the fan and the front of the fan falls off. Wow, really? One of my students came up and fixed the fan for me so I could continue to teach. But hey, at least my class was entertained and had a story to tell that afternoon. You never know what is going to happen in class, good thing they require me to have insurance!
So there you go…the Spaz master at work! I hope this made you giggle a little, enjoy your day.
