Aunt K’s birthday

It has been a while since we’ve been able to go out as a family…so it made this occasion extra special. We had 7:00 PM reservation at the restaurant Chianti’s; my family is chronically early for everything {exactly opposite of me, I am either right on time or late} so we walk in the door to Chianti’s at 6:45 PM. The host proceeds to tell us that our table is not ready, this restaurant is incredibly small and has no waiting area or bar to sit at, so we head up a couple of stores to Chopsticks {a new Chinese restaurant}.

We sat at Chopsticks bar and had drinks until 7:00 PM, my Dad headed down to Chianti’s to check on the status of our table; it still was not ready, but took my Dad’s cell number and said that they would call when it was ready. Now, at 7:20 PM…I am hungry and starting to get crabby, that sends up the flags in my family {I am horrible to be around if I don’t get food}; so we all head to Chianti’s to hover in the doorway until we get our table. 7:30 PM ~~ the table is STILL not available, oh and did I mention that when we got there, there was a 4 person table available which was now full with people EATING?!?!? So my Mom pipes up and says, ‘you know we come here a lot and this is ridiculous that we had a reservation 30 minutes ago’; the host replies with, ‘just chill out, we will have a table for you soon’. WOW, that guy is really lucky that he didn’t say that to me, so we made a huge scene and walked out and headed to Chopsticks.

The folks at Chopsticks were awesome, they totally turned our night around, the waiter was charming, my parents got some good wine and the food was great. I’m a sucker for some good Sesame Chicken {nom nom nom}. All in all, despite the mishap at Chianti’s we had a great family night.

Spaz Moment of the Day: Woman down!

Spaz

As most of you know…I am a Jazzercise instructor. You would think that in order to be an instructor you have to have some sort of grace and coordination; well apparently not. Last night, I got up on stage and started to teach my opener…one that I hadn’t taught in a while, so I was enjoying it. Then the second song {Pump it Up – Danzel} came on…warming up the body, heading up the aerobic curve. One of the moves was 2 chasses with a hold. So I cue to my students 2 chasse & hold; on the hold my foot catches on the carpet, my ankle rolls and I just timber on over. Now that wouldn’t be so bad if I was in the middle of the stage…nope, I’m on the very edge of the stage. So not only do I trip, I COMPLETELY fall off the stage.

If it isn’t bad enough that I fall off the stage…I had a nice arrangement of weights, a step and an exercise ball to break my fall. OMG it was hilarious! I have huge bruises all over my body and I am SO lucky that the only thing that happened to me was a dislocated finger. Now, that finger was way gross! I had a few of my fantastic students, class managers and the wonderful instructor Meaghan to come rushing to my rescue. I did however refuse to show my finger to anyone, I just knew I needed to go to the doctor because I was convinced that it was broken. I sat there with my finger looking like a Z with my bag of frozen peas {yes Dad, this time…I gave Peas a chance} until we decided what to do with my spaz-tastic butt.

So they packed me in the car and took me to Urgent Care. Did I mention that last night we had one of the WORST snow storms of the year? Good timing, right? So I get to Urgent Care where I meet my parents and sit in the waiting room and wait for the doctor to see me. The doc shoots me up with a numbing agent {in 6 different places} and takes an X-ray of my finger {CLICK HERE if you want to see the x-ray film}. After the X-ray he comes in and snaps my finger back into place, thankfully there was no sound, and I didn’t feel a thing. They take a second X-ray and don’t show any fractures *whew*. They wrap up my finger, tell me to lay off exercising for a bit and send me on my way. So I’ll be wrapped up in this splint for at least 4 weeks…good times.

Luckily only a dislocation...it's still hurts loike a MOFO!!! on Twitpic

But like I said earlier, it could have been much worse. All I can do is laugh; I knew it was only a matter of time before I fell off the stage. I’m wondering if the Jazzercise centers will put padding on the floors all around the stage for me…seems like I may need it. But do not worry, this girl is OK…it’s painful, but I’ll live. I will miss teaching for a while.

Mantra Monday: FOCUS!

Mantra Monday

~ Focus ~

So ya…I’ve got a lot going on right now; and I am having a TERRIBLE time focusing. I start on one project and get distracted by something and move towards that. I’m like a humming bird jumping from flower to flower.

So my Mantra for this week is to focus. I will focus on one task at a time and actually finish something…I really will; I promise!

Gimme Some ENERGY!

Hey folks, I wrote a product review/recommendation over on my Jazzercise blog.
JazzerStephanie

Here’s a little blurb…

I do not plug a lot of products out there, but this one has been AH-MAZING for me. The reason that I feel the need to talk about this product is because I have been out of it for a week and have noticed a HUGE difference in my energy while teaching. I first learned about this product on the Hungry-girl website, and I just started taking Jazzercise classes (as a student) and figured…why not let’s try it and see what happens.

Mantra Monday: YES woman!

Mantra Monday

~ Yes Woman ~

I have been SUCH a negative nelly lately and it’s driving me crazy. I hate being this way, I try to be happy but I can’t stop focusing on the things that just keep going wrong. I’m frustrated, I’m burned out, and I’m bored! So…I watch the movie ‘Yes Man’ again and decided that was going to be my Mantra for the month of March. Normally, when I feel like this I tend to be a shut-in…I hide and try not to talk to anyone so I don’t get on anyone’s nerves. In the movie ‘Yes Man’, Jim Carrey’s character says ‘yes’ to any opportunity that comes his way, no matter how out of the norm it is for him. I am going to try and do the milder version of this…when people ask me out to do things {assuming that it doesn’t cost too much money} I will try and do it. I need to get out and live my life again; I have been frustrated for too long, I need to enjoy what is out there. So…here I go; wish me luck for being a Yes Woman!

Avatar Review

OK, I don’t usually put my opinion out there about movies…but since the entire world has seen the movie Avatar, I caved and went to see it in 3D. Yes folks…I became a lemming and followed the masses to see this movie.

So, I didn’t really have a desire to see the flick because I’m not a big ‘fantasy’ genre fan. I had heard that the story line was lacking…but I was really surprised to see how similar it was to Dances with Wolves, Fern Gulley and Matrix. Now, don’t get me wrong the imagery was amazing and beautiful. The only thing that this movie was missing was my favorite character from Fern GulleyBatty Koda.

*giggle* I love this movie, I can’t help it…I always have. If you haven’t seen Fern Gulley…I highly recommend it. Any who…that’s my little rant about Avatar; I am glad I saw in the theatre and it did not change my life. I have no desire to go live in ‘Pandora’…I don’t really like nature all that much. LOL
