Mantra Monday: Learn

Mantra Monday

~ Learn ~

This week I have been scheduled for some training classes here at work. So I have decided to make it my Mantra for the week to open my mind and learn. For those of you that know me, know that I am a training professional…so normally, I am the one teaching, not the one learning. This is a tough position for me to be in—sometimes trainers are the worst learners. When I sit in a class, it takes all of my focus and energy to pay attention and be engaged in class.

Now, I don’t claim to know it all…and I know that life throws you curve balls to learn, so I am also going to take the opportunity to reflect on the past and learn from the mistakes that I have made. There are several things that I need to ‘learn’ this week, so I am keeping an open mind and entering into ‘sponge’ mode so that I can be successful in my job and in life.

Mantra Monday: Dance!

Mantra Monday

~ Dance ~

I can’t help but dance every time I hear this song, it makes me so happy!

‘Dance, Dance, Dance, like it’s the last last night of your life!’

So that is what I am going to this week, I am going to take some time out of everyday to just dance. Dancing makes me happy…and if something so simple makes me so happy, I must do it!

What is your favorite dance song?

Grateful Posting: Social Media

Social Media

Today, I am grateful for Social Media, it has helped this girl with coming out of her shell. Some people think that I have a problem and that I am attached to my iCrack (iPhone) like it is my life line…but what they also don’t understand is that I have met some AMAZING people over the internet. I am pretty active on a total of 3 social media sites and I absolutely love it (for those of you that follow me – you know LOL).

First, is Facebook. I have connected with so many past school mates here it’s been amazing! Now, I am not so obsessed with Facebook that I am playing all of the games out there, but I do update my status ~ a lot.

Second is Twitter. I love Twitter…I get to say the most random stuff and sometimes I get a reaction that makes my day. I have also met SO many amazing Jazzercise instructors on Twitter – in fact I actually ran into one on the streets of New Orleans! How small of a world is that?

Last is Loopt Mix. This is a site that allows you to find people with common interest in your area. You put a little info about yourself and just start chatting with people. You can tell them as little or as much as you want. I’ve met some really cool people on here!

So today, I am thankful for branching out and embracing technology to improve my social life.

Mantra Monday: FOOTBALL!!

Mantra Monday

~ Football Season ~

Oooo can you feel the change in the air, I know I can. I can’t wait for this season of football…I’m ready! I spent most of my day yesterday preparing for both of my Fantasy Football drafts for the upcoming season. Ya, that’s right, this girl is into fantasy football (WHAT?!?!). My first draft is this Sunday, so I need to prepare this week, so I can kick some butt this season. Funny story as to how I got involved actually…

My friend Gabe approached me about 6 years ago about fantasy football and asked me if I wanted to play. I told him that I thought it was the dumbest thing on earth and it consumes all of your time; why on EARTH would I want to play it. His response “…that’s alright, girls don’t know anything about football anyway…” *ahem* WHAT did you just say? This girls hackles went up and said “It’s ON! Sign me up!” And thus the madness begins; I started out simply playing in a league for a couple of years, doing pretty well, but never winning the league. Then it morphed into me running my own league…not quite sure how that happened—DAMMIT Gabe! LMAO but I will say one thing, I have heard from several of my owners that my league is the most efficiently run league they have ever been in (Whoot Whoot!).

After watching the Bronco’s pre-season game yesterday…I have determined that I have a new boyfriend. I do love Peyton Manning *swoon*

and I always will, but who is this new boy Brady Quinn that has been added to the mix.

Why hello handsome! He didn’t do very well last night, but I believe that he has potential (I really do watch Football for the sport, not just the men LOL)!

Are you ready for some football?!?!

Mantra Monday: Daily Mile

Mantra Monday

~ Daily Mile ~

Last week, one of my favorite bloggers (Yum Yucky) posted about the DailyMile.com website. Now, I have wanted to start running again for a while now, but didn’t really know how to hold myself accountable, or how to start. I know I know…put one foot in front of the other and just start jogging…well it’s a bit more complicated than that for me.

So, I’ve reactivated my DailyMile account, started following Yum Yucky and her work outs…and have pledged to myself that I will at LEAST walk (1 mile or more) 3 days this week. Of course, I will log all of my Jazzercise workouts there as well, so you can see how many calories I burn teaching & going to classes. So thank you to Yum Yucky for the re-motivation that I needed to start my running plan.

Grateful Posting: Chuck Taylors

For those of you that know me…know how much I love shoes—especially sneakers. I have very fond memories of my first pair of Chuck Taylors and my love for them still continues. When I was growing up my Mom worked for United Airlines – so we did a lot of traveling. I remember being in Italy and seeing EVERYONE there wearing Chuck Taylors, I begged my parents to buy me a pair. And they caved, and purchased me my first pair of black Chuck Taylors in Italy—now come on, how cool is that?!!?!
My new chuck taylors...bought them for the greese themed hall... on Twitpic

Well, that passion never stopped – the other day I received an email from DSW shoe warehouse (I follow them on Twitter & Facebook as well) with a special coupon for $10 off a pair of Chuck Taylors, so I headed over there on my lunch hour and picked up a pair that I have always wanted. BRIGHT PINK!! (This is a bad pic, but they really are pink!)
come on...how cute can the pink chucks be?!?! on Twitpic

So now, I have a total of 4 pairs of Chucks, and I want more! I am grateful for the cute-ness of Chuck Taylors! And I am so blessed to be able to continue to support my shoe collection.

Spaz Moment of the Day: The Nervous Pee-er

Spaz

So I have always deemed Jessy ‘the nervous pee-er’ of the family. When she gets spooked, she pees. I joke about it a lot and call various people in my life nervous pee-ers and they never know what I am referencing…so why not write a blog posting about something that happened last night that proves Jessy is a nervous pee-er.

I recently purchased a new iPod and when they ship your items, they pack them with these lovely air packet thingies…

Tucker decided that these were things that looked fun to play with and took them out of the box when I wasn’t looking. As I was walking into the living room with a very heavy basket of clean laundry, I stepped directly on one of these air packets which let out a very loud “POP”. Once I heard the pop, I screamed at the top of my lungs and flung the laundry basket out in front of me.

Now…Jessy was standing in front of me so you can imagine the shock that this girl is in. A loud noise, Mom screams and now a basket flying towards her (one thing I forgot to mention ~ Jessy is terrified of random objects).

Laundry basket in the air heading towards her, she yelps and gracefully pee’s on floor. *sigh* Tucker proceeds over to the laundry basket sniffs everything in there, pads at it and climbs in. SERIOUSLY dude?

And that is the lovely spaz-tastic moment of the day at the Tuffy household.

Do you have your own ‘Spaz Moment of the Day’, grab the icon, write a posting and link back!

Mantra Monday: Live in the Moment

Mantra Monday

~ Live in the Moment ~

I know I’ve talked a lot about Cesar Milan on my blog…but I do really like what he has to say about life in general -- not just about dogs. One thing that he has said that constantly sticks in my head is ‘Live in the Moment’. Dogs live in the moment, they don’t hold grudges and they just enjoy what is happening right now. I think that as humans, we tend to harp on the negative and get wrapped up in it.

As of lately, I have started to noticed a lot of negativity around me. Now, my natural tendency is to fall right into that and start complaining. However, last night I was reflecting over the weekend and was so happy for everything that I was able to do. Some plans fell through, but they were replaced by other fulfilling tasks. Wow, could it be that this girl is now an optimist? OK OK, I won’t go that far…but I did notice that I didn’t harp on the bad and only reflected on the good. Which is HUGE for me.

So, that being said…I am going to live in the moment. Enjoy every interaction that I have with people and pull the positive out of it. People come into your life for a reason, so cherish every moment that you have with them, and always remain a life long learner – you will never know everything!
