Grateful Posting: My puppies

~ My Puppies ~

Tucker

Jessy

Today, I am grateful for my puppies. They crack me up. If you couldn’t tell already, these dogs are my ‘fur’ kids. They make me laugh so hard that I snort (sometimes).

Lately, they have started something new when I come home…when I walk in the door the two of them greet me with their squeaker toys. And it turns into SqueakFest 2010 in the Tuffy’s Tales household.

But my absolute favorite is Tucker’s new trick. He will take the squeaker that is in his mouth and will push the squeaker against my butt to make it sound. He will do this for 1-2 minutes straight and I can’t help but laugh. Come on…what dog DOES stuff like that. LOL

So today, I am grateful to have these wonderful dogs in my life…they keep me happy and sane.

Mantra Monday: Selective Hearing

Mantra Monday

~ Selective Hearing ~

So there are a lot of distractions in this day and age with social media, television, cell phones, etc. With all of these distractions how can important messages get through and stick in your memory bank? This is a huge challenge for me considering I am in the wonderful world of training. I need to figure out a way to quiet all of that noise and help my students focus and retain useful information to increase their knowledge.

Now…if I can only take my own advice -- sometimes that is the worst. *LOL* There are times that I am easily distracted (SHOCKING I know – oooo shiny)…so this week, I am focusing and putting on my ‘selective hearing’ headphones on and filtering out all of the ‘noise’ to get through all of the things that I need to do this week.

Mantra Monday: Work It Out

Mantra Monday

~ Work It Out ~

I’ve got a lot of things going on in my professional life and my personal life…sometimes, I get overwhelmed. When that starts to get to be too much, I listen to the wise words of Foxy Cleopatra from Austin Powers (aka Beyonce). Ha ha ha

‘Break it down now…we gotta work it out, we gotta work it out, we gotta work it out now!!’

Any problem, issue or task can be completed if you just break it down, and tackle it in pieces…so that’s what I’m doing…I’m working it out! *shakes her booty to the music*

Grateful Posting: Instant Messenger

~ Instant Messenger ~

Today, I am grateful for Instant Messaging (IM)…I am 100% an instant gratification type person. I hate being on the phone, emails take too long, texting is convenient--but I am a phenomenal typer--so why WOULDN’T I like IM?

Now, yes…I have a problem. I have 11 different IM handles. But they all serve a different purpose. So rather than having all of the different programs loaded up on my PC, I use Trillian. Trillian allows you to connect to all IM mediums and social networking sites. It has adorable emoticons that are animated and make sounds. Ya ya…I know—I’M A NERD.

Having IM has helped me to get to know and keep in touch with so many people. So today, I am grateful for IM and it satisfying my instant gratification.

My First 14-er!

OMG, I had a FAN-tastic Labor day weekend!!! Back in the beginning of the year I wrote a posting about 10 things that I wanted to accomplish in 2010. On this list I stated that I wanted to hike a 14-er…whew, I had no idea what I was getting into with that!

7) Hike a 14-er

So I got my lazy butt up at 4:30 AM on Saturday, packed up the car and Tucker and we headed out for our big adventure. I met up with some friends, transferred into a different car and drove up to Bakersville, CO.

Now, like I said earlier…I had no idea what I was in for. We decided to hike Gray’s Peak; apparently this is a 7.5 mile hike with a 3,040 feet incline. Ya, that’s right…3,040 foot incline. YOWZA! We started roughly around 9:00 AM and it took us 8 hours to finish the hike. I burned a total of 3,514 calories during the hike; with a Max Heart rate of 174. That being said, the end result…totally worth it. What an AMAZING feeling and view!

I can’t say that I’ll ever do it again, but I am sure glad that I did it. So thank you to Kristin for asking me to go along, it was totally worth it! And Tucker has been exhausted for the last two days (good boy!). I took a few pictures on my phone, you can check them out below:

Mantra Monday: Communication

Mantra Monday

~ Communication ~

This week, I am going to focus on communication. I missed out on some stuff this past weekend, due to my lack of communication. It was totally my fault; I either miss-communicated something or didn’t follow up. What a bummer!

So I am making it my Mantra this week to stay on top of communication and follow up. I hate missing out on opportunities to have fun…DANG it!
