THANKFUL THURSDAY: Massage Therapy

Thankful Thursday

~ Massage Therapy ~

hotstonemassage

Today, Thursday…I am so very thankful for the art of Massage Therapy. In my younger years, I played a lot of organized sports (soccer, field hockey, softball) and I felt like I was always injured or at the very least had very sore muscles.

Well now that I am an adult AND an aerobics instructor, my body sure does hurt at the end of the day. Plus teaching high impact aerobics, I tend to get shin splints a lot (only because I do NOT bring my heels down—that’ll teach me). So as you can imagine, I will jump at any opportunity to get a professional massage. But I am kind of weird about it, as I imagine most people are. I don’t feel entirely comfortable with strangers touching me – let alone manipulating my muscles. I have questions, comments and concerns. Yep, that’s me…ALWAYS asking ‘WHY?’ Ha ha.

So last year when my good friend Julie told me that she was going to school to become a massage therapist I was SO excited. I am completely comfortable with Julie and she is used to my quirkiness and will answer every question that I have.

She just started her own company (Agape Bodywork) and is now taking appointments! She has run a few specials and you can book on her website for additional savings. She is AH-mazing! Seriously. I had my first hot stone massage yesterday and she walked me through the process and the benefits of using stones. She is so patient with me and I love her for that! You should check her out!

Anyway, enough of the shameless plug for Julie – I am truly thankful for the art of massage therapy, it has helped me to continue teaching Jazzercise, something that I love to do.

MANTRA MONDAY: Herding Cats

Mantra Monday
~ Herding Cats ~

So ya, this week is going to be hectic. I will be helping to roll out a huge project at work including working some 12 hour days. I had to give up some of my Jazzercise classes temporarily so that I could get this project taken care of…and oh ya, don’t forget, I’m moving at the end of this month! Ack! Between the job, Jazzercise (or lack there of) and packing … this girl is going to end up looking like:

bill the cat

The next few weeks are going to be crazy…let’s hope I can learn something from these cowboys. LMAO

Wish me luck! LOL

MANTRA MONDAY: Packing

Mantra Monday

~ Packing ~

So, in case you haven’t figured it out…I’m moving (LOL) it has been 7 years since my last move. I despise moving…I don’t mind change; I just hate packing my life away into boxes. Makes me realize I have TOO much stuff!! I am resisting every temptation to throw out 75% of my stuff…do I really need 10 flower vases? No, not really. And I have an ENORMOUS amount of towels—and that’s not including ‘dog’ towels. I have every kitchen accessory and appliance you could ask for and some of them haven’t even been used! And don’t even get me started on my Jazzercise stuff…DVD’s, togs, shoes, accessories...it just never ends. So, instead of being drastic and dumping everything, I have decided to dedicate the rest of this week to packing. Every night, I will come home and try and pack up one box of stuff to move. That way I do not get too overwhelmed.

I am looking forward to reorganizing my stuff and finding a place for everything in my new house. How do you approach packing up 7 years worth of stuff?

THANKFUL THURSDAY: Wikipedia

Thankful Thursday

~ Wikipedia ~

Goodness, today I am definitely grateful for Wikipedia!! The last couple of weeks, I have been writing some highly technical training and if it wasn’t for Wikipedia I would have NO clue how all of these whosamawhatsits, thingamajigs and dinglehoppers work.

It’s just amazing that at the click of a button I can find out what I need to about satellite technology, spot beam technology, and radio frequency transmission. It’s all wonderfully nerdy!

So…today, I am thankful for Wikipedia…it has made my job a lot easier to understand.

MANTRA MONDAY: Go back a little to leap further

Mantra Monday

~ Go back a little to leap further. -John Clarke ~

This is my motivational saying for the week. Over the last year, I’ve taken many hits…and this girl keeps getting up. I am entering into the final stage of a long drawn out painful process and I cannot wait for it to be over. I really try not to dwell on things that have happened in the past; because I cannot change them…I can only learn from them. But the biggest thing that I struggle with is my ego. I pride myself on being a strong independent woman and when something messes with that, I take it hard. So, even though I am loosing something that I worked VERY hard to get--I must remind myself that, you must “Go back a little to leap further”. So here’s to bigger and better things for this independent woman. I can do anything that I set my mind to!

Make it a great week.
